Spot on Gadwall
It was a bright sunny day and this male Gadwall duck had moved under a canopy of thick brush along the shoreline of the pond, apparently to take a nap away from the view of the eagles flying overhead. It was very dark in the shadows of the overhang but the sunlight was reflecting off the water in front and lighting up the Gadwall as if he was under a spotlight. This is the first in a series of 4 shots where I captured the various stages of his nap.
