2nd in a 4 photo series of a male Gadwall duck retreating to safe harbor and taking a nap. The Gadwall swam under a canopy of thick brush along the side of the pond so that he could sleep peacefully without worrying about the eagles flying overhead. It was dark under the overhang but the sunlight was reflecting off the water and lighting him up as if he were in a spotlight. In this photo he had tucked in his beak and was beginning to relax.
